Gulf Coast Tech Prep sponsors professional development conferences and events throughout the Gulf Coast Region.

Welcome to the Gulf Coast Tech Prep Consortia Website

We have seventy-nine school districts and nine community colleges within our region.  We service from Huntsville to Anahuac to Bay City and Palacios to Sealy and to Waller.  Our service area covers a large area.

Bob Lucas is the Executive Director of Gulf Coast Tech Prep and has been with us since 2003.  He also is the Director for the Advanced Technical Credit Training grant.

There are six area coordinators that serve the nine college systems/districts and their school districts. You can find their informaiton under the Staff Members page.

The consortium does several large conferences a year for the region.

The Tech Prep Regional Conference happens in the Fall and is for teachers, counselors, and administrators at both the high school and college level.  Information included in the conference is up-to-date legislative issues, changes regarding CTE programs and all facets of Tech Prep data.

The Counselors' & Administrators' Extravaganza happens in early Spring.  It is for counselors, administrators, and others at both levels of college and high school.  The information given at this conference helps the attendees to see how to adjust to the upcoming changes for CTE.  Up to date information is provided from the WorkSource so attendees can see the needs of the community in which we serve.

The GCTP also puts on two regional Advanced Technical Credit Trainings each year.  This training is so the high school teachers can get approved to teach an Statewide articulated course that matches the community college courses.  The teachers have to meet certain requirements to be approved to teach these courses.  Go to www.atctexas.org for more information.

GCTP will be adding the current six year plans for each district under their names once we receive them.  More information regarding what Tech Prep is, how it can help you or your student and where to get more info..is coming soon.

Along with the training, each participant will receive TEKS aligned curriculum and supporting teacher materials, including video and free online resources such as TexasWorkPrep.com, Reality Check, High School Graduation Plan, Career Investigation and Career Success interactive newspapers and the TexasCARESonline.com. In addition, classroom sets of materials will be provided.  This training is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the Labor Market and/or would like to receive the wonderful materials provided by the TEA.  However, only CATE certified teachers would be eligible for certification to teach these courses.
